Syncro Caravelle - Best wheels & where to buy them?

Hi all, can anyone kindly recommend the best full set replacements for my 1990 Syncro Caravelle 2.1.
Ideally I want to upgrade to 16" if poss? Type and where to buy would be great, even better a web link?

Here is the technical data from the handbook - but to be honest doesnt mean too much to me.

Tyres & ---> on wheel
185 R 14 6 PR/8 PR 99/97 N --> 5 1/2 J x 14
185 R 14 C PR/8 PR 99/97 N --> 6 J x 14
205/70 R 14 97 R reinforced --> 6 J x 14 or 5 1/2 J x 14
205/70 R 14 C 6 PR/8 PR 109/107 N --> 6 J x 14

195 R 16 C 8 PR --> 5 1/2 J x 16
6.50 R 16 10 PR 205 R 16 reinforced --> 5 1/2 J x 16

they were also talking about wheel and tyre packages for around the £800 mark for a set of 5

Thanks for the link and recommendation, its a definite option. I cant seem to find the package deals?

I was hoping for something in the region of £500 (not bothered if secondhand) - Will look on ebay but how do I know they will fit?

Not sure if this is any help but I have a Caravelle Syncro 2.1 1988 and I upgraded to 15" mefro's with BFG's and it was a straight swop. Put AT BFG's on and all has been good.

The gap between the tyre and the wheel arch is massive. Unusually so!?

that's how they should look, by the way it looks like you have the rarest possible original alloys on your van which are possibly worth more than a new set of mefros and bfgs

If you aren't running 205R14C tyres then that is your cheapest and easiest upgrade but only in winter or all year tyres no ATs or MTs, there are some 28x8.5x14 MTs available from Khumo I think, but that size in AT from BFG is nla afaik

insa do muds in 14 and cooper do at`s from what i can find over here

Those wheels were a very popular Mercedes W123 aftermarket fitment made by BBS back in the day. Available in 14" and 15" then and as tyre sizes improved a 16" version came about and were then seen on the W126, W201 and W124 .....

There are a few sets available on E Bay at the moment along with a very interesting set of 7 x 14 wire wheels .... !!

Cheers all for your comments, very useful and im learning alot very quickly.

I have 3 flats, so probably best is to just replace the tyres.

To be honest, I wouldnt know if they are 205R14C, Ill check. What is AT and MT, a guess would all terrain and mud terrain? I think i need ATs as ill be just camping in fields etc, and to be honest i wont be a hard core off roader! But that might change after spending more time on here

Would it best to buy online and then get fitted? Or get my local garage to order and fit them. I might buy all 4 so they are consistant?

If you are wanting the 'look' then 15" wheels will completely change the appearance of your syncro, mine had 14" on when I purchased it. 15" wheels with BFG AT 215/75/15 tyres on will do alot more than just get you around a muddy field camping when you get the off-road bug!
I bought my BFG's on line from Black Circle but this was after doing extensive research on tyres prior to checking out on-line prices. Also I would check that your local garage is set up for fitting and aligning 4x4's. . . mine wasn't.
And I would always purchase 5 tyres at a time . . . your spare!
