We'll be changing the name though John called around and went for a test drive. As a great mechanic he knows what to look for. I think his comment went something like "Can't fault it, nice car. Well looked after. SHE DID WHAT TO THE NEW ONE?" Sorry, had to tell him.

chopped the bulk of it out

they even put an extra little patch over here

got most of the new crap off, ive deliberately left a certain ammount as its holding bits in the correct position,if i was to scrap it all then i would spend more time getting the step in the right place

ive a choice here and will mull it over, either way it will be remade as per the original contrution as i do now, but undecided wether to cut back and add on or to remove the lot and make a complete new step and sides...??
anyway , there is a bit missing from the arch , this is one of the probs of life , I cant blame the guy that chopped it as most folk will slip it on the same as the pattern part, im not so i got more work to do , little sliver now in place

the new arch had a bit of rot around the seatbelt mount so that has been cut off and i have salvaged a bit of the old arch and recut the 1" hole around the belt mount and will add this.

keep checking it still fits correctly, rear bit now added, this is the part that goes upwards on the C post

this bit is deliberately left a bit proud/stickyout as it will be ground back and radiussed as original

wont be fitting the arch just yet, its fits as good as i can make it so will set about the step tomoz as ci will have better access with the arch out the way , will use my fastebers to locate it and hold it.
so whilst this is a slightly longer before through to after . this one is somewhat quicker

Well, a pleasant day was had, was faced with this and a choice

no brainer really as its not nice wellding a butt on the vertical and this thing is coated with what should have been banned years ago , underseal brushed on thick.
so chopped it out

this gives a good view oth the jopin of the A post to outrigger, handy as i have an A post /outrigger and corner to do on one thtas had a good clout

these next picks are just for ninterest as they show the arrangement of the throttle pedal and cable etc, which you dont see like this usually


so need to make a new bit,out with the sheet

so now we have this origami in the making

i took the liberty of making the basic part prior to cutting the old of as it was used as a rough guide

i have sat the van horizontaly level . i always do this as it help when measuring stuff,anyway put a level on it to ensure the step slopes very gently outward so we dont get puddles forming

here its sat in place for final checking

take the trouble to radius the corners the same as original , its onkly a little thing and dont make it stronger or anything but it just looks, more right
