Factory sliding sunroof repair.

Post by Dubmaster77 »

Hi! My factory steel sunroof has been James shut since I bought my van in June, I would very much like to repair it before the summer rain gets here as it leaks a little. It is the. Ables that require replacement, does any one know if this can be repaired with the roof lining in place? I can find very little I of on the internet?
Many thanks, stu.

The sunroof is serviceable, but you need to be able to open it to start to dissemble, the headlining stays in place no need to damage anything, you need to read the procedures in the Bentley Vanagon manual there is a whole chapter on the big sunroof
I've got one in mine and had to replace the cables last year, I also have a spare roof and the old cables may be repaireable eventually (once Ian stops earning money), only the right side cable is still available new, not sure if the capstan drive is still available though, they are vehicle specific so whilst all the other Golde made parts look the same they won't work on a T3 which is the biggest one they made afaik

Cheers Aidan, the capstan is new, and I have both cables and what looks to be the front cable guide, they came with the van when I bought it. Need to locate a Bentley manual then and figure out how to open her up!
Many thanks.

a pm is usually the best way to ask that q

youthlygiblets fitted a factory sunroof to a non sunroof van so he had to fit some drains he might be able to help with the detail of that, I'm just glad mine all work - there is a way of cleaning them in the procedure in bentley manual - basically you have to rod them
