Heater Blower stopped working suddenly!

Post by chuggers72 »

Evening all.

Yesterday my heater blower was working a treat - today its not! Fuse is ok, its still drawing current and has been used regularly so I'm pretty sure its not seized (wiki suggests this would happen over long periods of non use).

Done the research on wiki and found some good threads on this issue about getting to it but before I spend a day takin out the dash was wondering if any one had any advice on the problem (apart from rip the dash out :( !).

Most likely senario is the extra load created be several years of a partially seized motor, have caused the multi speed switch to melt. Replacing the switch will probably get the blower to operate again BUT for how long is anyones guess. Ultimately the blower motor is likely to need replacing as well.
For now though, have a look at the switch and terminals/wires, as often the heat will have hardened wires which may need repairing as well.
