holiday cancelled, water pump!

Post by fairwynds »

Grrrrr
typical, just thrown bags into van to go off for a few days in Wales, and water pump has packed up.

Its a 1.9DG, early type - VW part number is (apparently) 025 121 010AX
Would like to fit an original VW part but my usual suppliers do not have any. I have been advised it became obsolete from VW in 2007 (ekta).

Anyone know of any stockists still able to supply original? If not, anyone used the MEYLE one that Heritage do? (Only preference over brickwerks is Heritage are a mile away and Brickwerks is, I understand, closed for Xmas).

Many thanks, could be a cold evening of dismantling tonight!

...the magic of Facebook (!) strikes again. The very lovely 'Doug's VW-werks' pointed me in the right direction, just like the little Christmas star he is! Cheers mate.

A search would have brought up numerous results and a link to Brickwerks and a recommendation for GSF pumps which are OEM and have the VW number engraved out.

Ian

Maybe I'm not using the search facility correctly, as when I searched using the box top right I got lots of highlighted messages which didnt apply to my van. I admit I gave up after a few goes!

Must try harder!

anyhow.... pump is now off van, all nots and bolts removed easily, so that's a start! Off to pick up the new one later, although I now have a longer list of gaskets I need to renew!

Cheers

cheers buddy. I was lucky in the sense that several years ago I had engine out and performed all the 'stud magic' needed on a workbench, so when it came to this job, everything came apart easy peasy
Gotta love Copperslip......!

Bad news about your hols, but good news that you are back up and running so quickly. I got a spare water pump and fuel pump for xmas presents, just in case. If I need help I shall be on to you for assistance. I hope you can get away for the new year.
