Most Merc wheels will fit without removing those little screws.

But these are not merc wheels...did anyone confirm if it is in fact possible to, at a push, get a new stud into the front flange without having to shell out for a new bearing? I forgot to look today but certainly wil be doing at some point soon.

I can't say it's the proper way to do it, or that it'll work every time, but when I pulled the front drive flanges out of my 14" I managed to get it out without the bearing, so didn't have to replace that or the seal. I may just have been lucky though? 8)

What method did you use Dave? A bearing splitter behind the flange maybe? Very rare for the bearing to stay in one piece when pushing the flanges out...

My Merc steel wheels didn't fit without removing the brake drum screws either. Dunno how a fitter could miss it TBH. The studs looked different lengths when the nuts ate on ?
Glad you spotted it

Can someone please clarify what you need to do (and how you do it) when fitting Mefros wheels? I was planning to replace my 14 inch wheels with 15 inch Mefros in the Spring, and one of the reasons for choosing Mefros was that they were a straight swap, with no complications. Now it seems that you have to remove this little bolt, replace it with something else, and the front wheels need something else as well. Help!

The Mefro wheel will fit straight on - just remove the two little screws off the rear drums and use the wheel nuts for the Mefro rims
