Well I had a quick walk round the van first and when I saw the dreaded stone chip around the bottom and the absence of the horizontal seam behind the fridge and I thought, "hang on here we go"
When walking round the back of the van admiring colour coding like this doent fill you with confidence
Then just a sweeping glance at other areas set alarm bells going that one or two corners were cut on this top dollar refurb
So windscreen.....
I peeled back the rubber slightly and it has been out as have all the other window rubbers but they are in a seriously bad state and have 10mm gaps in them where they have shrunk. They are so split and brittle that is a credit to who ever managed to fit them back without them totally falling apart. The leak in the windscreen is due to the repair on the corner that is so far out of shape that the window rubber doesnt go anywhere near it.
So I got the screwdriver and with no pressure at all,
So it goes without saying no point in fitting a new seal to the windscreen just yet. Also the rust under the side windows has started to bubble all ready,
Now then a little chat was had and it was flagged up that the "specialist" said he could do the repairs without taking out the interior

I had seen the van before and knew it was f**ked so looked at the rear arch panel replacement. Sounded odd when tapped so I had a little poke under the rear arch to see what he had apparently welded the new panel to because all I could see was factory under seal under the arches.
Yep it went straight through so thought I had better leave that one for now.
Then I looked at the rear jacking points and gave those a gentle poke,
I took loads more pictures of the candle drips all over the place and stuff but thought to leave it there as the light was fading, but I would love to take the interior out to take a look behind the fridge as it was quite bad before the "refurb". I looked underneath and it looked OK but obviously it needs looking at from the inside but lets be honest I think its obvious due to some of the other stuff what is going to be like.
What next?
Well it needs to go back thats for sure but it will have to be completely re done, all the over spray all in the back taken off, all the door furniture and fittings taken off and the green paint removed then fitted back, loads of welding that should have been done in the first place, all the shoddy over spray on the front roof luggage rails sorted out etc. Makes me wonder if Sarah should just take it back to show them and just ask for her money back, run the van over the summer and in the autumn before it gets to cold give it to Mike to do properly ?
