I take it the engine would be screaming louder with a 4 speed or are the ratios altered to suit?

Yes they are so it wont be screaming.
I have 5 speed 3H with 1Y and its very good but then Aiden did the full works on it for me
You just want a box [4 or 5 speed]with suitable ratios to match your engine that dont jump outa gear!

Two now. Was, and should be, one.

That's the only connection between the leisure battery -ve and the van body. There might still be a tenuous electrical connection, but it's certainly not going to carry any current worthy of the name. Mind you, looking at it, it wasn't exactly a big fat cable anyway! It could carry full alternator current - 90A. That wouldn't, even before it met the sidecutters.

where would i find the pas pump? I know the bracket is still there for the reservoir pot and the cut out through the bodywork is there for the pipes, do the pipes connect up to the rack?

The pump is mounted to the engine (obviously) and the rack has to be a power steering rack (again obviously with the pipes from the pump) ... I believe the front uprights are also different BUT I'm not 100% certain on that.

Power steering models had different hubs.Well the same hubs. But the holes where the track rod ends attach are placed differently.

If he's lucky he would have just had the front to back pipes and pump removed. If so, a set of baxters ps pipes are just over £100 from memory? The pump should be pretty cheap, if the rack has been removed (doubt it) then LHD ps racks are a fair bit cheaper than the RHD ones, see them for £300 on eBay

Tell me about it
I think I am at the cross roads with this,in 2 minds now to buy or not,yes on the face of it 3000 euro=£2500 is cheap for a westy, but theres alot missing, and I can't see the selling accepting less than 2800 euro=£2336 at todays exchange rate
so Ive got to way up how much the bits that are missing is going to cost me,I have made a rough list and costs but I am not sure how much a new or 2nd hand heater would cost me
5 speed gearbox=£300 2 on ebay at the min but both are codes 8L
pas £100 for pump and £100 for the pipes=£200,thats based on hoping the the rack hasn't been changed
rock and roll bed £200?
leisure battery £60
battery charger (don't know if its missing)
heater?
renew the front and rear bumper back to big ones £250
