GSF have been around alot longer & sadly, to compete with the likes of EuroCarParts and others, took the direction of ever cheaper parts manufacturers and rebox suppliers. There was a time that going to GSF meant buying genuine OEM replacement parts at often less than half price (and I mean the original manufacturers supplying VW/Audi) not the watered down meaning.
Trouple is...after the 999 thousanth customer asking for 'the cheapest part' and having to constantly compete on price, it's not suprising the quality of 'stocked' items has come down. Unfortunately there isn't enough of 'US' (owners that don't mind paying a few extra quid) to dictate that quality.
Of the big car parts retailers, there aren't any that are whiter than white in this regard....save Halfords perhaps and small in comparison suppliers like Brickwerks...but you pays your money....it's always been that way.
You just need to be savy about what you are buying.
GSF give good service just that as a customer, you need to be more educated and know your brands.

GSF can be marvellous ... it all depends on the guy behind the counter, we are VERY fortunate here in having John & Theo at Derby and Glynne who's defected to Nottingham.
