start stop start stop problem
Hi to all you people, i have a problem with my van,ive had it diagnosed and they still cant find the fault its a 2.1 dj engine1989 what happens is it drives well for 10 miles... then cuts out.... i turn the ignition.. and it turns over.. but no acceleration... i leave for 30mins and it starts again... 10 miles down the road same thing happens.... cuts out... turn ignition it turns over but no acceleration... any ideas

thanks regge, i would have to be certain before i purchase so i will say it to the mechanic to check that part,

Surprising all you vanagon geeks didnt come up with much suggestion,bye the way has anyone ever driven these yolks for a full year as an everyday yolk without breaking down.

I'd agree with REEGAJ.
I had similar symptoms. Trouble is if your mechanic can check it when the van is running but he won't find a fault, he needs to check it when you break down, can you pay to have him travel around with you? For the sake of the cost of the amplifier I'd bite the bullet and buy one. My local car spares shop had one in stock, there common to a lot of cars of the same era. It's easy to fit, don't forget to use the heat conductive paste.
