Fog light switch......
Hi there, could anyone tell me why my fog light switch has positions please. The first click appears to do nothing whilst the second click puts the lights on and illuminates the switch itself. Basically i'm asking, what is the first indent for? cheers.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

^^^^^^^As others have said^^^^^^^^^^^^
Note* the LED in the switch is a legal requirement and should illuminate when the rear fog lamp comes on.
The switch 'backlight' however, should come on with the main lights.

Re: Fog light switch......
That's cleared that up then. Onto question no. 2, should there be a bulb fitted on both the near and off side clusters? Mine currently doesn't have a bulb in the nearside and when i took the lenses off, it didn't look as there were any metal components within the bulb holder - i was in a hurry and it was dark and i'd only just gotten over the drama of the sump plug threads being stripped! Thank the Almighty for Helicoils. Cheers.

Re: Fog light switch......
yes ther should be lights in both. Bulbs available at brickwerks. Check that you have 12v getting to that cluster swap the bulb over and see if it works in both.

Re: Fog light switch......
Cheers Bob, will give it a go. Perhaps there was a contact in the holder and i just didn't see it due to me being hasty. A little suspicious as why there wasn't a bulb in there to start with - will check with multi first. Next BIG job is to change the coolant on Friday - hopefully not an all day job lol!

Re: Fog light switch......
er... mine has only one side rear fog..the off side. I think you'll find that's quite normal.

Re: Fog light switch......
Haven't we discussed Martin's van having them on both sides before? We concluded that since it's a LHD his original rear fog light would have been fitted to the nearside (in this country, off side in europe) so in order for his van to meet British MoT standards a lamp would have to have been retro fitted in the off side cluster too.

Re: Fog light switch......
Sorry im still thinking dash pod not rear light cluster! Doh! So no unless you have a modified rear lightcluster you will only have a fog bulb on one side as said i did a strip down of the light cluster on the wiki.

Re: Fog light switch......
Question no.3, when side or headlights are switched on, which of the switches should be illuminated? I currently have a friendy but tiny creature that holds up a candle behind the hazard switch!!!!! Am I to be believe that there ought to be others that 'dazzle' my eyes? Cheers.
