Coolant senders

Post by airhead »

On my JX engine there is 2 temp senders in the spigot coming from the forward end of the head. They're grand and connected up and all that, but there's another sender in the spigot in the side of the head above where the oil filter is where 2 pipes meet and connect in. On this sender the spade terminal broke off, and yet my coolant temperature gauge still works and shows the engine as not overheating. What is this sender for?

Cheers,

Ross
