I've got a 1.6 jx td engine. Had a compression test done as it was running like a pig to be told piston 1 had pressure of 100 psi compared to 450psi in the others. Garage have taken head off engine and oil was leaking through from the block. Apparently there are grooves in block of that piston and they are suggesting replacing block or engine. They can't find a replacement. Can anyone recommend anyone who could refurb the block or sells a good refurb block/engine? Or are there any other things which can be done to repair it?
Cheers

stick an ad up in wanted, someone might have a second hand one for you. You can get a recon block and head for around £1200

Re: Jx td engine block
Apparently the head is ok. Would it be better to get the block I've got reconditioned as I know what's wrong rather than buying something completely new and that I don't know the history of?

I got a whole engine done £1100 for head block pistons etc. Nothing done to the ancilliaries for that. Give them a ring and see. They may have one one the shelf you can swap over.
