Front to back coolant pipe diameters?

Post by chuckle-bus-tom »

I need to put some lagging around my front-to-back coolant pipes on my 2.1MV, syncro doka. Its mainly because in this cold weather there isn't enough heat to stop the vaporiser for the LPG freezing and have the heater on. The system has fresh coolant in, with a scientific measure of genuine G12++.

Anyway, waffle waffle. Does anyone know the external diameter of these pipes? I'm hoping to get some lagging that's the grey 'snap-on' type to minimise the time spent laying under the van!

How strange, my vapouriser has never suffered freezing, and the heating on seems not to make any difference to that.
It does suggest the problem won't be cured with lagging.
who's lpg system is it?

Maybe the thermostat is stuck open and isn't allowing enough heat into the heater pipes - assuming that your petrol engines have the normal set up of heaters before the heat is allowed to the radiator.

As Kev say's ^^ I've never had a gnat's of trouble in 7 years Mind you from what I read recently I must be the only person in the world that's never had trouble with my lpg installation

Mr Oldie .. the coolant to/from the vapouriser on our DG stylee set-up goes from the outlet at the end of the bleed ring and onto the small spigot on the right-hand bank when viewed fron behind.

The heating works fine, but the problem arises when the outside air temp is below about 4degrees and I'm driving over 45mph. It's almost as though the cooling capabilities of the system are too good, meaning the coolant isn't warm enough for the vaporiser. I've toyed with the idea of putting a strip of cardboard behind the grills!

P. s. I've never had a single problem with the LPG system in the camper, it's just with this system. Although all the problems thus far have been the LPG system exploiting weaknesses in the Dijifant system, which were promptly diagnosed and fixed by the installer.

Is that the fellow that's on one of the metal pipes that wrap around the engine? That's an easy enough place to look next!

Looked in Bentley, I'll be changing the UFO shaped thing in the water pump and the gromet Thermo-switch in the radiator.

Still going to lag the pipes though!

A vapouriser rolling downhill is faster though
