T25 Door Seal Leak ?

Post by islandboy »

I've got a bad leak that works its way onto the main floor in the van.

I'm not sure whether its the door seal but water seems to be getting under the matting by the seat belt fixing, working its way down the outside of the battery box and onto the main floor.

I presume the easiest way to test the door seal is put a hose on it and see if water comes through. Any advice appreciated

It's not been thrown up from the wheel arch. We had very heavy rain last night and the floor was wetter than previous days and the van was parked on the drive.

It's worth dusting the area with talc before it rains or you try the hose, then you can see where the water is traveling from and the route it's taking.

Take the door card off and check if the plastic barrier sheet is stuck on properly, or indeed there at all. Water will run down inside the doors and leak out of all of the internal holes into the van.

Also worth checking the battery box behind the seat too, as the water can also pool in here and rot them out.

Had the door card off today and barrier sheet is in perfect condition. Also no moisture evident on the inside of the card.
Loads of water came in with the downpour we had overnight.
Will try the talc trick next to see if I can trace the source.

Do you think a wash of water-based poster paint would do the job. Once dried it should show tracking of water.
