BW vs JP Exhausts full stainless system for 2.1 DJ Syncro

Post by PetenAli »

Does anyone have any views on whether one or other stainless system is better? We've decided that the constant bodging thats been required ever since we hit a concrete drain in the Picos this time last year has just got to stop and the only way to go is to stick two fingers up at the recession (which has just caught up with us), bite the bullet and go for a full stainless system that will outlast us and will be birthday and Xmas presents to each other for the next year.

I've seen that, as always, BW gets a good press for their product http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?p ... t&Itemid=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but so does JP Exhausts http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk/product.asp?id=81" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Prices are comparable so does anyone have any views on whether there is a big difference either way please? If the view is that they are comparable then we will go for BW because we always get such top service from them.

Thanks very much,

Pete n Ali

Brickwerks is miles better, ime JP stuff leaks like a seive, breaks, and is held together with mild steel clamps that need replacing every year, and they fit it with silicon sealant so if you have an MV you get leaks and rich running pretty much from day one, the BW one is a copy of the original system pretty much and can be replaced piece by piece if necessary so if some of the existing system is ok then you can wait till it goes before replacing that part
I have had both and I wouldn't buy JP again, even though they honoured the warranty I lost three days over a couple of years taking it back to get fixed which isn't what you want imho

I have a jp one and it has cracked 3 times in the last 6 years in diffrent places They have replaced it each time on warranty but I think I would go for a BY one if there was a next time.

The Tri-Y design is more challenging to design and build, but it produces a broader torque curve than a racing-type 4-into-1 collector system, just what is needed to enhance flexibility in on-road vehicles.

Thanks taigagreen. It looks the business and is a reasonable price. However getting it over here from the good Ole US of A would be expensive and I don't need a cat. BW still seems favourite.

8 Years old you say, I guess it depends if you were given a lifetime warranty with it?

Simon - Great to see you are still around! :ok Have you got another Syncro? Was it a single cab you were looking for? I have about a million 2.1 DJ things that I want to bend your ear about (that should be "bend you eye about" as its on here!).

Ray - thanks for the feedback. I'm just in the process of selling stuff so that I can order a BW stainless exhaust. I'll be interested to know how JP respond though.
