1.9 dg petrol.
brothers van. when driving the oil light and buzzer of doom has started coming on when changing down gear sometimes. Not all the time. We've checked oil levels and they're fine. its only intermittent though.... any ideas what to check?
took it into an air Aircooled garage this week to have new starter motor fitted. told them of problem, they toppped up oil and said shouldn't have problem again. On the way home they got the buzzer again....

buzzer of doom
Hi kathyshack... Not saying I have the answer...But... When I first got my van, driving home IT started. When I got home and parked up ,telling my friends how good my new van was, one plonker pointed out the oil patch under the van. Grolloks. Checked level, below Min(5mile drive)Contacted dealer, to busy ,Phone next week. Mean time sorted probs with oil leak. Now onto your trouble. After driving for about 20 mins the buzzer started, did all the checks, could find nothing wrong. So every time IT started, I switched of the ignition, coasted for a few yards, switched the ignition back on, every thing fine. On a 30 mile trip, I may have done this 5-6 time The good news is , after 3-4 weeks I never got the buzzer again. it worked for me ,cant promise it will work for you
Health has now stopped me camping Etc.

I have a similar prob with my syncro.. reconnected the wire as prev owner had disconnected it.. 300km road trip and 300km offroading, never came on once.. next day for the drive home... came on every few km.... disconnected it...
Now the only way to check if its a real problem, is to have the oil pressure checked.. level (apart from very low) will not cause it to come on.. (and if out of oil.. your engine wont last 30 seconds!!!)
Dunno about the 2wd sender.. buty access to it on a Syncro is impossible, without lowering the engine, as far as I can tell!!!
Oh.. and use a 15w40 or 20w50 oil.. as they dont like thinner stuff..

I ran a topic on this cuple weeks ago, the only answer is to get the oil pressure tested, mine was intermitent so I fitted a oil pressure gauge (as I plan to keep the van even with different engine).
My oil pressure dropped from 3.5 bar to 0.9 ish when hot engine ran great but for how long?. I need the van for the Two week hols with wife and kids in aug so change the engine.
Im changing the engine to a spare that I brought, fitted today dident get time to finnish due to thunder and heavey rain but will on sunday.
Any one want a DG runs great but low oil pressure??????
