Seam paint crackage

Post by jamesandtheopenroad »

Got some cracks appearing in the new paint work in some of the seams - I'm guessing where the van flexes - but I want to try and prevent water ingress.

Is there anything I can use that's a bit more permanent that Tooley's Crack Cure? Some sort of flexible clear epoxy resin?

Thanks

Or a urethane clear coat or similar?

Any ideas?

in stead of using hardener in the 2pack paint you should use "softener". It allows the paint to flex along with the body of the van ;)

Is the root cause of the problem that the paint's cracked, or is the problem that the seam sealer behind the paint has cracked? The paint should just be "prettification", not actually doing the job of sealing the seams.

well I don't mean spray the whole van with 2pack paint with softener, just the seams after you've sealed them.

My kadett was repainted for 2 weeks and paint on the seems of the front fender cracked because it doesn't flex...
