How to grease up VW wheel carrier

Post by lloydy »

Mine is getting stiffer and stiffer  does anyone know where to grease up? Or even how to dismantle?
I'm on about the handle at the bottom that turns 90 degrees, not the hinges
Thanks

That handle should have plastic/nylon bushes in it and so its quite possible that they are simply full of muck and grime. Free it up with WD40 or something and then dismantle it and clean the bejaziz out of all the bits, copper grease it all up and reassemble. Take the whole thing off the van as its easier that way.

Apparently it's a really difficult job and fraught with danger. Better of selling it, wasn't there someone on here looking for one recently?
