If you are going to go to all the trouble of making your needles UV sensitive why not just do the same with the figures on your exisiting dials?

Painting them yourself would be very tricky to get looking good, there's a lot of stuff to paint very accurately, you could get the characters uv spot coated i suppose but end effect just wouldn't be the same as the results with electroluminescent. It's hard to explain how the end result over the internet, images don't really do it full justice either, however very soon i'll be able to get some better pics than have been in this thread so far.

What your saying is that it would look "pooh", which it would.

Right, I've sent off some graphics to the manufacturer and they will be sending me back the first 'mock up' designs of how the gauge faces will look.

I have to make a few decisions about what parts of the gauge faces will have coloured marks on, for instance one of which will be the red 'low' marker on the fuel gauge.
I thought i might add one in for the 30mph mark like quite a few modern speedo's have, but i might also leave it so it doesn't mess up the OEM standard look.

More on this once ive received the designs back from Germany.

Minature paint pots arrived today for the UV paint to go in the packs, Red UV paint should be arriving in the next day or so.

Once i have finalised the designs it should be around 4 weeks until they land so i'm guessing it'll all be done and dusted within the next 6 weeks, hopefully this should give people an idea of timings for release.

Thanks for the patience everyone!

Just got the first set of artwork back for the gauge faces.

Image

Ive found a few problems with it which i've already mailed them back about, but all in all they're looking pretty much there. As you can see in the pic i've got them made as close to factory look as possible so that during the daytime it will be hard to see any difference between these and genuine gauges.
Only at night will they look any different.

Red UV paint has arrived but i'm not happy with the colour, so a pot of UV orange is on order so i can mix up a specific colour for it. More on this once it's arrived.

Do keep up at the back Lloyd...

Kph versions are already available from the chaps in Germany, if you want to get Kph one's then get them straight from them (although they don't have the green and orange bits on the rev counter on theirs)

I'm getting these made specifically in Mph&kph as the German chaps don't make anything except Kph.

I'm led to believe that MOT law will require an MPH speedo at some point in the not too distant future (don't know the facts on this though), but the main point is to made your dash look modern and pleasing to the eye at night instead of driving under candle light.

The artwork has been finalised and i have just transferred the development deposit to the manufacturer.

As soon as they have produced the first examples they are going to take some hi res pictures and send them over just to make sure they are all correct. Looking at about 2weeks.

:ok
