Recommend garages/ individuals for diesel engine upgrades

Post by discipleofsketch »

Apologies if this is listed on the wiki somewhere, but I couldn't find anything. I'm in no hurry, but the long term plan (or short term if my hand is forced)is to upgrade the engine in my 1.6d camper, to something that copes with hills better. I haven't got the knowledge/ skills/ space or time to do it myself, so would be looking for someone to do it for me.

Currently i'm still open to the idea of any diesel upgrade that will allow me to keep the speed up to 60 on uphill stretches of the motorway, and anything beyond that would be great. I'm in Bristol, and the van currently runs fine, but ideally I wouldn't want to travel ridiculously far for conversion, and ideally i'd also like to be able to take it back to the fitter for servicing etc., especially if I go for a TDI

Googling around and searching this forum i've only come across one place mentioned for a TDI conversion:-

"Russ at synchronutz" - looking on google maps Synchronutz are way up norf from Bristol :lol:

For a 1Y upgrade I found T25 Direct (London):-

http://www.t25direct.com/19-1y-diesel-e ... -298-p.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And for a peugeot engine conversion, the name "Famous Phil" has been mentioned, but no other details!

So - any other garages or individuals take on diesel T25 engine conversions, and what do you specialise in?

Having owned five T25 aircool 2ltr & 1.6n/td replaced to 1.9 1y. Sold my last 1.9 1y engine T25 recently. Future plans are for 2e or agg 2ltr petrol engine 100 bhp + cheap as chips to buy and can run it lpg.Parts to convert require diesel engine bars&bell housing plus petrol ecu&wiring.An exhaust down pipe from the manifold requires fabrication . Good performance up hills and motorway speed limit potential .
