Once you have checked the fuse and the relay. I think you do have to at least take the door card off.
It may be possible to pop the switch out of the card and have a poke at the contacts on the back, but that wont get you far.
On the drivers side
There are four 2 pin connectors connecting the loom to the switch, these get wet and dirty and can cause problems.
On the passenger side there are two 2 pin connectors, these are fed from the drivers door
The motor is mounted at the bottom of the door, if you are careful and have small hands, you can unbolt the motor from the winder mechanism and withdraw it enough to test the connections.
You could try a direct connection to a good 12v battery, this sometimes gets a reluctant motor started,
The motors can draw 2Amps and any dirty contacts will cause problems.
