No Headlights

1986 1.9. Turned headlights on and nothing. The blue full beam light is showing on panel and wont switch off although no lights coming on. Fuses ok, side bulbs had blown so they have been replaced as well as headlight bulbs. still nothing. Any info gratefully recieved.

Headlight switch is a known weak point, pop it out look for melted wires and or bodges with other wiring tapped in with scotch locks. Also the earth crowns above the fuse box are known to cause issues make sure there is no corrosion there and the wires are all clean. https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/VW ... bad_earths" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheers for that.

Had cleaned crown fairly recently, looked at switch, it seemed fine. Popped it back in an the lights worked fine. As is usually the case
