The Syncro with no name gets a refurb ...

Post by syncropaddy »

Unlike other Syncros on this island and forum, my Syncro doesn't have a name and nor does it want one! Anyway, finally the refurb started today. The plan was to drop the JX and transmission, swap in an AAZ and free off the rear locker and that would be the extent of the mechanicals ..... I should have known better!
During the two months leading up to Syncro25 I did a load of work on the oily bits, replacing CVJ's and boots, almost the entire braking system, wheel bearings and a load of other stuff. So when I got underneath to WD40 the areas I would be attacking I was rightly pi55ed off to discover that four of the CV joint boots had split - an outer front, inner front (the other side of course  ) and two inner rears. I fitted Spidan boots back then and they have only done about 15,000 kms since so hopefully I'll be able to fit something better this time around.
So now I have to replace all the CVJ boots and free off two siezed lockers, hammering out a slightly battered set sump shield stuff in addition to slotting in an AAZ ....

Unfortunately, the holidays are over and its back to work on Monday so this entire refurb should take ........................... months!

Unlike other people on this island and forum I also don't have a name for 'it'. However I'm thinking along the lines of simply: 'Dozen'. 'Dozen' what you might ask?

Dozen fit into Andrew's new garage! :rofl
