Air filter box

Post by Wiganbargee »

Hello all.
I've been putting a Syncro pickup back together for some time now, whenever I have a spare hour and a few bob.
Thing is without a manual it's been causing a bit of head scratching here and there.
Does one exist by the way?
At the mo I'm installing the air filter "can" and the associated pipes. But something seems amiss.
Is there a specific air filter "can" for the Syncro or will the JX one I have do the job? Does one of the "hoover pipes" near the n/s rear light go to the inlet manifold? And should said "hoover pipes" end at a small bulkhead near the front of the engine or is there missing ducting etc between there and the vent further towards the front on the body side?
Lots of questions I know but I know these things suck hard and I want it to suck nice clean air through the correct filter.
Any info will be much appreciated,
Mike. :?

Hi, are you the guy who sent a message to me on eBay? If so, I apologise but I deleted it by accident
Jx 2wd and Jx 4wd air filter are the same, the housing although looking the same is slightly different in that the syncro one has a built in dirt separator. But you can use either/or and they both have the same connections.
As for pipe work connections, you are best registering at some where like http://www.vagcat.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, you can then have a look at etka fr your van which has exploded diagrams of all parts

No sorry wasn't me who sent you the message.
Many thanks for the info.
Where does the filter suck the clean air in by the way?
And other than Ebay Germany where can I get the pipes from that run from the airbox to the turbocharger-you know the rubber elbow and the pipe with the little stump on it?
More or less the only bits that are missing now.
All the best,
Mike. :)
