JX Injection pump rebuild cost(ball park figure)
Hello all could any one give a ball park figure for a rebuild on my bosch turbo diesel injection pump?
I know it's not gonna cheap.
Thanks,
Rob.

I have been in contact with him through Ebay and he seems a really good bloke and well up on his pump knowledge.

Most injection specialists quote around the £300 mark for a rebuild.

300 for the rebuild doesn't sound too bad i though it would have been much more, theres no way i'm touching that pump, i can just imagine trying and ending up with a table and floor full of springs!
Cheers.

That is what happened to me, my then mechanic said he could replace a seal and took it apart.

Re: JX Injection pump rebuild cost(ball park figure)
I saw a thread on here somewhere where a guy totally dismantled and rebuilt his he did a good job on it but they dont half look complex!
To change the subject slightly i'm a bout to start a rebuild on a JX block, i'm using the jk manual for the engine specs etc, it mentions the use of a plastiguage to measure bearing clearances, no doubt this is an important part of the rebuild, but from what i managed to look up on the net the plastiguage are said to be not so acurate, any advice folks?
Cheers.

Re: JX Injection pump rebuild cost(ball park figure)
Hi Rob,I bought a JX pump to practice on, i think that if its broken down into sections[so to keep it simple] its possible to dismantle it and remantle it without bits flying about the room.
Ive only taken the top off and removed one of the delivery valves so far though!
The big problemwill be checking and adjusting the internall pressures!!
I did'nt use plastigauge,just a vernia gauge.

I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]

Re: JX Injection pump rebuild cost(ball park figure)
Hello people,
Few people have mentioned 80-90 to me recently, then I got posted a link here...
£300 for a pump build is mental
I'll do a tune for £50 - that's GOV MOD, pin grind if required, removing restrictions on AAZ pumps (uprated pins are useless without this) and a new throttle shaft seal
rebuild for £80 - typically needed on pumps that have been sat for a bit and refuse to prime or ones with head leaks, as well as all the bits in the tune package, I'll strip the pump completely and make sure it's right before rebuilding with a new pump head seal.
The pump head seal and throttle shaft seal are the ones that go.
I can fit a nose seal if you want for a bit more - but they are so simple to do, that most can do it with the pump in situ.
I don't do this to make a living, just a hobby that's grown - I don't have a flow bench to test the pumps after rebuild and the price reflects that, I've done A LOT of pumps (six this week and two more due to be sent in the next couple of days) and the returns I can count on one hand.
You can send me the pump and I'll return it via insured courier for a tenner, I normally turn them around overnight, can also do the tune-up in situ and then set-up for free.
However - if you want info to do the work yourself - I'm happy to help and I've a number of pictorial guides to guide you through the process. I've got a detailed set-up guide too that'll help when you get your pump back.
If someone wants these guides posted up here - just ask, like I said just a hobby, I like to help other enthusiasts out rather than make money

Cheers Elvis, I'm not a real person - just a figment of my own imagination.
Oh - the rebuild link is the second post here - don't be daunted by it, they are fairly simple when approached methodically but maybe a little fiddly to reassemble.
You do need one special tool - a tri-lobe socket to undo the throttle plate, it can be done with a pair of grips or a dremelled out socket (what I use, just cant buy the real thing). You need two six point (TORX) drivers as well.
I can put a pump together from a selection of bits - I've loads of spares, so no problem if a few bits are missing.
You want custom builds with big pump heads - no problem

Re: JX Injection pump rebuild cost(ball park figure)
Hi Reg the pump was used with my old engine which ran terribly, this could be down to two of its broken pistons tho! The pistons were hitting the valves, that engine is now scrapped and i'm currently rebuilding a new one(JX) so thought while i'm at it i may as well get everything done at the same time. The pump has been sat now for a few months. Do you also recondition turbo units(KKK K14)?
Cheers Dave. Some good pointers there.

Re: JX Injection pump rebuild cost(ball park figure)
Hi Reg I took mine to the local specialist who promised me they could get one pump out of the 2 (the replacement pump has play in the nose bearing) for a maximum of £250 that was over a week ago I am tempted to just get them back and post them to you?
