Radiator fan. 1st speed works, 2nd doesn't?
Anyone know a reason why the 2nd fan speed won't work when the 1st does?
Earthing crowns are fine because I overhauled them 6 months ago and the switch is new (as of today)
Is there a relay that operates the 2nd fan speed? It's an early 83 van if makes any difference

Are you sure it is a 2 speed fan?
I've got an 84 leisuredrive and it's only got a single speed fan.
Has the thermo switch got 2 wires or 3 going to it?
I think i'm right in saying that if it only has 2 wires like mine it is single speed fan, it will also have a smaller fuse than the twin speed fan.
Hope this helps.

Agreed. My 1985 westie also only has a single speed fan.

In nearly five years of ownership, driving in all kinds of conditions, including mountain passes in Switzerland.....I have only had the 2nd speed on once and that was with a faulty thermo switch.
Second speed engagement is extremely rare and I doubt most owners have ever heard theirs operate.
Why do you think yours isn't working?

Yes I was there on Monday.southernsparky wrote:Cruz, were you at Brickwerks yesterday by any chance?
Were you staying at the campsite? And was yours the van with the shocking rear brakes that had been checked by a 'specialist' or was that someone elses van?
The thermo switch has 3 connectors to it.
Thanks for all your replies and I will have a look at it and check the earths and electrical connections whenever dry weather co-incides with my time off.............if that ever happens again
