Diesel AVK or AHF (5.43) gearbox needed urgently (with pics)
My box has given up in usual (for me) catastrophic style. Looks like its probably beyond economical repair.
Ideally I need a AVK or AHF box, but others considered, so I can build up a good box from that and what I have left of mine.
Anyone got something tucked away somewhere?

Clutch guide tube - interesting one this, friction plate center has been rubbing on the clutch release bearing guide tube causing burring and a complete fracture.
Main shaft bearing - spun in the casing and fractured
4th gear - Mullered
2nd gear - couple of dinks out of it.
Pinion shaft - 3 teeth have some deep scoring.
Main casing - location points to hold the main bearing are non servicable.
That's the worst of the damage, still some serviceable parts in there, but true to style all the expensive bits are knackered.
Looking likely that its beyond economical repair.....
Anyone out there with a diesel Syncro gearbox.......please....

Many thanks for the offer of loan, a couple of others have also kindly offered.
I'm exploring the options of what to do currently, weighing up whether its going to work out better to build up a box from parts or fork out for a brand new box.....

Doesnt look pretty does it!
Jäger does a guaranteed price of €1850 to repair a syncro box. Well that's what it seems to say?

Oh I have a turbo diesel (jx) input shaft you can have if it helps?

Don't think repair it will be "super-expensive", I don't see >many< parts broken... Why not ask to specialists first?

Hit the nail on the head there Karl, that bit of casing means basically starting from scratch.
Wasn't 'hooning' at all Patrick, was trundling along in 4th at about 50mph. Thought it had popped out of gear, but it had actually stripped the teeth off the gear.
There wasn't any warning, however I might've been able to hear something going on if my clutch hadn't been making a whirring noise for so long masking other noises. Seems there's an issue with LUK pressure plates....

According to Aidan, this isn't the first one he's seen. Richard jones has seen the same thing too i think.
From what Aidan has said it sounds like LUK have changed the center section of the pressure plates to a slightly different design meaning (certainly on a tdi flywheel anyway) they can come into contact with the guide tube, as mine has.
It's interesting as the pressure plate i had on there before was an LUK one from RJES and that was perfect, i replaced it with an LUK one from RJES and this problem began.

LUK don't make all their own clutches, Sachs don't make all their own clutches, Valeo don't make all their own clutches, a lot of the time the big 3 chop and change each others products.
I don't think theres a problem with LUK clutches, I think there is a problem with the application that you are using it for.
Are you using a TDI flywheel set up and TDI input shaft?
