Smaller steering wheel

Post by Marmalade67 »

Anybody know of a smaller diameter steering wheel that will fit as a straight swap?

MK1 Golf wheels fit, i've just fitted the Mk1 Golf gti wheel on my van (straight swap), however be warned, that coupled with 245 tyres has made the steering feel like power steering with the engine switched off.
Time to fit power steering i think.

Was going to say... there is a reason the steering wheel is the diameter that it is...

So if the wheel is so big for the reason of no power steering. Has anyone 'tarted' theirs up with a padded cover or anything because it does feel rather slim in comparison to everything else I drive. If so can you recommend some.

We got SAAB seats and want to put a swivel on the drivers side but the wheel is already in my lap. Will try a Mk1 Golf one, we got regular wheels and tyres so might not be so hard.

I bought a leather trim for mine via eBay, and its very good and cost under 20 quid. You have to stitch it on which takes some time, but its been put on u tube to guide you [as it happens, the wife did it for me, so blame her if the stitching's crap  ]

Well worth it for the money. I even put a leather trimmed gear-stick knob on for good measure, well posh :pimp

Yep, here it is: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FITS-VW-TRANS ... 3a61d22fad

As I say, well worth it and makes a scabby-looking steering wheel much better :ok
