Buddy seat bed plan?

I'm still pondering which way to lay out the inside of my Caravelle. I have the rear folding bed, but I'm now toying with various plans for the remainder. I have this bright idea to fit two buddy seats, one behind each of the front seats, but with an extra panel that would bridge the two to form a long bench or bed. All three sections would obviously have a padded cushion top. I could use the space inside for storage (cooker, coolbox) but it would also provide more seating space at the table, and an extra bed (across the van).
Has anyone done anything like this, and if so, how did it turn out? Realistically, how wide does the seat/bed area have to be to allow someone to sleep comfortably (ie. without fear of falling off)? And how would they be fixed in place?
