T3/iltis gearbox mounts versus T4 syncro diff mounts.
How many of you are running the T4 diff mounts in a T3?
How do you find them?
We have both here, and apart from a very small design change that wont affect how they work they are dimensionally the same.
However the T3/Iltis mount is quite soft, where as the T4 mount is really quite stiff in comparison.
We can get both, but the T4 item is cheaper. I just wondered if anyone is using the T4 mount and if they found they transfered too much NVH?

Erm dunno.....I got mine off vw about 2 years ago...ordered via the elsa t3 diagram so I assumed they are the t3 ones but then I do seem to recall thinking "oh..it's a t4 part as well" ...seem ok anyway, will see if I can find the invoice and part numbers.

Turns out I have the 183....option, not the 701s so m of no help here!

I doubt anybody is running the stiffer ones Simon, as they've not heard about the option, or thought it would be any better.. do they work for the front of gearbox too

Ok...I'm willing to risk everything and try a set in the name of progress on my front diff.
How much?

Ah.
Well, FYI there's a near identical alternative mount from a T4 Syncro rear diff mount.
It's cheaper than the iltis /T3 mount and more readily available.
My mate in Germany says it also available on the aftermarket though I can check as I'm using a iPad and I don't have ETKA to get the part number...
Only draw back I can see is that it is quite a bit stiffer, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing as the T3 mounts are usually saggy and squashed down.

Who me? No problem at all with the diff on my van as a swapped it after it started to make extra noises on the way to S/P, fitted the 5.43 that was going into the pick up with its new pinion bearing and now silent running at longlasthas been attained..the diff that came out is a spare, cwp is ok, but pinion bearing has a smidgen of wobble in it. The pickupis now getting a 4.86 and that is ok in fact but will very soon be getting a shiny new bearing as well and then....it going to be fitted with...new mountings! and they could be T4 ones just because im an adventurous kinda guy...and it seems they cost less too.HarryMann wrote:Whats the problem with your front diff again ?
All clear now?

yeah, using a PC now [proper Computer]
Just checked TecDoc, not listed on the aftermarket.
Shame, well, at least it's a current part you can buy in this country, unlike the t3 item.
