Recommendations for large awning please
We are searching for a large awning for our T25. Any recommendations for a large awning that could take internal sleeping compartment and suitable internal dining area. We would also like it to be as easy as possible to fit on van and put up!!
We like look of the following:
The Khyam Sleeper
Outdoor Revolution Navigator Kombi Awning
Thanks for any advice.

We've got the kyham motordome sleeper with the additional annexe. It's massive and goes up fairly quickly. I'd recommend it.

Re: Recommendations for large awning please
The Khyam Sleeper although expensive has been a great buy for us, it's really easy to put up and Hubby can now do this on his own which gives me a chance to sort the camper out and therefore cuts down the time for getting set up. It gives us plenty of room and extra sleeping space.
One thing to mention though, depending on the gutter system you have the figure of eight attachment that comes as standard may not work, it didn't on ours. We bought, from Lightening Leisure, the pole which you clamp on and we found that a better way of attaching it to the van. We also had an elbow break recently, fortunately you are given spares and they are really easy to replace.
Hope this helps and you'll have as much fun in your camper as we do in ours

We have just bought the Royal Traveller 4. It's large, has a 2 berth sleeping compartment included, a large living area, easy to put up and relatively cheap. We paid £269 from a Camping shop but could have saved about £50 by searching online.
Hope this helps,
Charlie.

Re: Recommendations for large awning please
We have used a drive away awning before on my last T3 but find it better to use a tent and just have a sun canopy on the van as disconecting drive away awning and then re conecting is a pain in the a***

We've got a Royal Traveller Annex. Only used it a couple of times, but easy to put up with a spare pair of hands. The inner tent has never been needed, any "over-night guests" have normally just passed out on the ground sheet.

Re: Recommendations for large awning please
Hi Sally,
We have just bought the Outdoor Revolution Navigator Kombi Awning with the inner tent and carpet. As a test run me and the wife pitched it in the garden to avoid looking like right gimps when we go camping next week.
As we have never put up an awning before we found it a little difficult with the instructions and the "photo" (line drawing) in the bag a little ambiguous. However with a little bit of swearing and sounding like the chuckle brothers (to me.... to you.... etc) we managed to get it up in around 40-45mins. The outer poles are colour coded and there are more guide ropes than you could shake a stick at and i still have not figured out what they all do yet
. Not connected it to the camper yet but opted for the rod and clamps which fit nicely in the guttering.
The inner tent is a doddle to connect to the outer awning with some sort of toggle affair. The carpet is ok, not sure what we expected but i think the wife was expecting shagpile!!!!!!
Today it has been subjected to the great british summer (P***ed it down all day) just checked the awning and it is bone dry inside and still standing!!!
No doubt that next week we will still look like gimps trying to put it up for the second time but we are well chuffed with the awning. just got to buy stuff to go in it.

Re: Recommendations for large awning please
I have just sold my Outdoor revolution drive away awning because I found it to be of poor quality and not very well designed. In its second season (after only about three weeks use) it leaked quite badly at the seams, especially where they had added toggles and guy rope anchor points, there were too many layers sewn together so despite using seam sealer both inside and out we still got drips, also the fibre glass poles did tend to flex quite a lot especially when camping at the coast. In desperation I replaced the upright ones with steel tubes from my previous tunnel tent leaving the flexible fibreglass poles to go across the roof section, this improved the stability but the leaking drove us mad. We have replaced it with a "traditional" type awning with a tubular frame and better quality material for the fly sheet. I personally wouldn't buy another "Flexi pole" tent or awning again unless it was a small two man tent. The Khyhams I have seen on various campsites have always looked well built and don't tend to dance around in the wind like the large flexi pole tents & awnings.
I would have bought a Kyham but didn't think they did one in my wifes colour choice........after all it must match the colour of the van, although I think I saw one purple-ish Kyham this year.
I do like the Outwell tents and did consider buying one, heer is a link to a very large Outwell Drive away awning

We're pleased with our Outwell Country Road from JK. Approx 3m x3m internally. Easy to erect and very snug whatever the weather with it's zip in ground sheet. We set up as a kitchen/dining room for four with plenty of space. There is an inner sleeping tent option.

Re: Recommendations for large awning please
If i just wanted extra living space I think I would go for a Coleman event shelter as you can park your bus inside the tent if you have a small pitch and still have a fair bit of living space and outside it if you have a big pitch. You can buy sides separately and groundsheet. bit pricey but massive and quick to put up.

Oops jus saw you wanted sleeping compartments, (been a while since I read post) I would recommend getting a decent tent then, we are selling bear lake 6 if you are interested as the misses wants a trailor tent for next year.
