rust stop or the like

hi all,had a great time at Busfest ,got parts and loads of contacts,great day and weather,.i met a guy selling rust stop and wondered if anyone had used it,.i know people say disinarol or the like but the guy said rust stop is applied like an oil so does,nt let water get under it and you dont hide the rust with a black coat and think its cured,any advice welcome.
