Re: Big brake upgrades
Standard 16" discs are 277 x 16 and I dont think you'll get a set of vented to fit standard calipers cuz most vented discs are at least 20mm.
Those e bay ones are wrong according the drawings on the advert, even the PCD is 115 !!

Re: Big brake upgrades
I did notice that with the spacings. I reckon the other link I put in will be a mistake, but no harm in trying to find out. I agree though, 16mm seems a bit thin for vented rotors

Re: Big brake upgrades
I've sent them a email (brakes are a small car kit) and asked if they fit behind standard 16" steels and clk alloys. It does look a nice kit, but I have heard that a few years ago it was not a good kit.

Re: Big brake upgrades
also lloyed The 16 has the bolt locations further from the axle centerline therefor I think the caliper would be hanging off the disc slightly.. larger discs may cure this... also on the small car twin piston i vaguely recollect someting not quite right about the way the pistons met the back of the pad. ..further reseach needed i think....also a few of the americans have perfected the 4 piston jaguar calliper set up that looks promising ....no easy direct bolt on of the shelf fix..unfortunatley

Re: Big brake upgrades
Actually, that jaguar setup has evolved a bit... from jag caliper and t4 rotor to all jag to jag rotor and Toyota caliper... If i have understood it right you'll need a spacer between the hub and rotor on a syncro but otherwise all you need to do is drill out a few holes.Theres still an issue about wheel fitment, some 15"s do not fit.

Another set up here but not sure if it would fit a Syncro http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/topic76295&EN=TU.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Big brake upgrades
FWIW...
Beemer E30 servo (10" dia opposed to T3's 9") is the done thing in Germany. Transforms even the standard brakes, apparently. Using the - slightly larger - BMW master cylinder is a bonus if fitting larger front calipers like S2's as they need more fluid to move the bigger dia pistons.
Sharan fronts (ATE 57) are also very popular over there, Sharan is a 1.8 tonne 7-seater in basic trim and apart from the VR6 auto all front brakes were the same up until at least 2003 iirc. Modern anchors with plenty of capacity to spare. Never had trouble stopping ours in a hurry when full up with adults.
I have a pair here for R&D thanks to Neil but not had the time to investigate.
PS the old Jag/Girling 4-pots are massively heavy and early 1970's braking technology (first fitted to XJ12 in 1972)

Re: Big brake upgrades
E D I T Keep it simple and effective with an adaptor/spacer. Who wants some then?

Re: Big brake upgrades
Seriously though, i think I would go for a bolt on option with no mods, it's a shame (in my opinion) that stuff needs to be modded, I would like off the shelf ease of replacement! Which is leaning me towards the black diamond discs and pads. Has anyone actually fitted them?
