Oil check flap on Aircooled
Should this have a foam or rubber seal around? That previous owner had put a foam backing on it which has now rotted off and I don't know if I should replace it. Strangely the flap seems to fit snugger now than before.

Horrible foam was VW original fitment.
It's purpose, to soak up every drip of oil leaked by your engine, recent or in years long past, then transfer said oil to your arms, hands, white shirt when you attempt to check the oil.
