Reverse Lights - NOW FIXED

my reverse switch broke off. what do I likely have on a c plate. very early or just early? thanks.

Vinnie is on a B plate, and was the 'early' switch, not the 'very early' one, so on that scientific reasoning, I'll guess you'll be 'early' too

Mmmmm, stopped working again. Wondering if the gubbins that pushes the switch isn't moving as far as it should?
Think we'll wait for the monsoons outside to stop before we go investigating!!

Clean the spade connectors up properly and make sure they fit snug. Should work again then. I recently fitted a new rev switch and it stopped after a few days. Luckily I was able to very gently squeeze them up for a better fit, but sometimes you have to fit new spades.

Strange as it sounds but my gearbox was off recently and when it went back on the reverse light would not work. Power was fine, lights came on when I shorted the spades together so I removed the switch and then screwed it back in and they worked again.

Am sure these buses defy all laws of engineering & physics sometimes and just do as they please!

They stopped working, again!
Got underneath, pulled the connectors off, cleaned them, back on, all works again.

It dawned on me (as water came dribbling out of the spade terminals), with the orientation of the switch terminals, ie pointing up, any water splashed up under the bus will just run down the cable into the connectors. There's no drip loop.
So, an 8 inch length of old mountain bike inner tube threaded over the cable makes a useful boot to keep the water out. Zip-tied around the cable at one end, and zip-tied round the switch housing at the gearbox. Only time will tell.........

Two weeks after fitting a GSF one the contacts were all loose (I mean REALLY loose) so I superglued them to make sure they didn't move then coated everything except the terminals in varnish and that sorted it. Kept the water out and ensured the contact blades were rigid once more. Pity they didn't make a better job of sealing it during manufacture!
