my 1983 1.9 waltercooled t25 has been starting then not starting i have trace the fault to this if i get it running the touch the wires it cuts out. while trying to pull this plug i pulled a wire out . do i have to buy a new part not sure what you call this part. or can i fix this one. many thanks jen
I dare say you can buy new plugs or you could strip a little wire back and solder it back onto the bit of wire that is still in the socket to get you running again.
A new connector looks like it is needed, they are cheap, a quick look on VAGCOM says they are less than 2 euros I think it is number ten in the image The Part number is 211905327 probably available from VW locally.
think i will try to solder it , till new one gets here. think i will leave it till tomoz i just shut sliding door and the new rubber i had fitted has let the window slip down and the rubber is hanging
If you look carefully into the plastic bit, you should be able to see a little tang on the side of the brass connector. Ease the tang back with a jewellers screwdriver or similar and you should be able to withdraw the connector from the plastic. Makes it much easier to solder and may make replacement unnecessary.

With the tell tail signs of green corrosion on this very critical connection I would say pop the pins one at a time, solder on new ones and see if you can order the original rubber sleave as well, to make the plug more water proof.
When new the plug was not open as pictured.
ooops i did try to solder it but melted the plastic i have ordered one from peter cooper so fingers crossed i will have it running by friday . The rubber cap is split so i will order that if they can get it. many thanks for all your help jen
