Sliding Door Hinge

Post by McCoy »

Hi

So my sliding door hinge is completely buggered, it's not been quite right since I bought the van and last weekend at Santa Pod I came across someone in the auto jumble who had a spring door hinge assembly.

However it seems this is off an earlier model or something cos it clearly wont fit on my van and is visibly different, so whilst the door hinge was disassembled I managed to get a good look at the problem with the old hinge, I suspect the spring itself isn't great but what is obviously clear is that its missing the sealed bearings that allow it to run freely back and forth, after much ebay etc I've noticed that all of them are missing the bearings so i'm assuming this is a common problem.

My question is does anyone know if you can buy just the bearings separately a brand new hinge is £300 plus if I could get a replacement set of bearings I would be half way to solving the prob!!

Any ideas guys?

Is there a cheaper way?

Not long been a member and there seem to be no one from our club camping at Santa Pod last weekend. Still hopefully will get to meet some people from the club this weekend.
