It doesn't matter if you fit a euro 4 engine or even a euro 5. I asked about putting a new PD engine in and it would still need an approved DPF filter fitted by a registered fitter.

All diesel commercials are liable, but camper vans up to 2500kgs are exempt. Also exempt are caravelles as they are people carriers.

Worth remembering that it's not "inside the M25", but the borders of the London boroughs. Watford is inside the M25, but OUTSIDE London. It's still a bit iffy for him, but he'll be fine with it as long as he stays outside.

Have a look on the chassis plate. It says there. Don't rely on what it might say on the paperwork - our documents say 2550kg (copied from the German when it was imported), but the chassis plate says 2450kg.

@ adrian c,
Thanks for that. seems that throws the van out of the 1250kg gvw weight bracket !! hmm, leaves us with two options- 1. turn it into a camper van ( ify choice ) 2. convert to petrol or much newer diesel engine but the prices of the diesels are madddd and also the mods required. Hmm food for thought i recon. I could convert a range rover or land rover with my eyes shut but this van i guess i will need to research the work involved . Hey, maybe a B32 conversion will be interesting to do??

once again cheers buddy.

It wouldn't be worth going to a newer diesel, it still wont pass unless a particle filter is added (lots of dosh),then that has to be tested every year so its like having two MOT's.

Converting it to an AGG would be the cheapest.
AGG Engines are very cheap, more powerfull and mpg wise as good as the current JX, having a JX you have 90% of the parts you need, lots have done it, either search on here or brickyard.

"AGG" is the engine code for the motor found in Mk3 Golf GTi 8v and a few others. In those, it's transverse. In the T25, it's still going to be longitudinal, so the Golf gearbox would be no use whatsoever.
