Yes it is scary and some of this legislation is already in effect in some other European countries. Its either Holland or Belgium where you cannot do any modifications at all

This really isn't good. Even the engine swaps that have been popular here will mean those vehicles are no longer roadworthy. I think it's time to write a letter or two to try and stop this, or it could all get rather silly.

Hopefully this is scaremongering.. however one possible workaround might be to re-register a modified vehicle after submitting it for SVA.. I'm only speculating.

Just about every car on the road over twenty years old has been modified away from the original in some way or other. If all those cars fail their next MOT, there's going to be a whole lot of livid people out there.

At least all I have to change is the lift kit, wheel studs, wheels and tyres .....

Who would have thought 14" rims would be back in vogue!!

The after market auto parts and custom mods industry etc is huge. I'm surprised they have not jumped on this

So if this were to come in, who would enforce and do the checks? An MOT tester ? (such as myself) as I might pick up on the fact a 2wd had been retro fitted with syncro running gear but doubt if anyone where I work would do and if a Renault came in I would niether know or care if it was standard, and I'm not prepared to speculate either on such an important subject ..

This could affect campers quite a lot. Can a camper conversion from Devon, Holdsworth, Autohomes or even (gasp) Westfalia be considered 'factory standard'?

I spose the westys are...but not the rest...any minibus type vehicle would also be "banned"

It's not gonna happen.....to many vehicles would be off the road, no one to police it or do the checks either.
