Unofficial Survey! Where does your temp needle sit?

Post by chuggers72 »

OK this is purely a selfish post to try and reduce my 'needle stare' time!

After an obligatory overheat in my 1.9DG van I have changed various parts and just done the radiator. Its now running a lot cooler. :) . Out of interest - where does everyones needle sit on the temp gauge. Mine is now generally just to the right of the led but does wander up and down either side by a few mm. Its steady but I still cant totally relax as its not where it used to be prior to break down (it used to sit just below the led).

Mine sits just to the left of the LED (thats on a dash without a rev counter) It occasionally moves straight up when climbing hills or doing over 70mph. 1.6D non turbo

Halfway on the light, goes up to 3/4 under load then the fan comes on and takes it back to half.

Blimey - more responses than I expected after a cuppa! I'd say the general consensus so far is a needle around the 11.55-12.00 kinda area. I'm still paranoid then as mine is definately top end of this and a bit more. Any of the techies out there think I've still got a problem ?- the fans not running excessively (which I assume would be a good indicator if running too hot). Its had a new thermostat, rad, fan switch and coolant. Am I worrying over nothing !!!! :?
