Noisy clicking radiator fan

Post by dickturpin1 »

Ive got a noisy clicking noise at the front of the van ,which ive narrowed down to the radiator fan.It usually starts when travelling into a headwind or slight crosswind, and stops when i change direction or slow down. Its as if when air is passing through the radiator at a higher speed it is forcing the fan to spin and click, possibly on the cowling. Should the fan be able to spin freely like this,or should it only spin when activated by temperature? Thanks.

'SPARE' as in spare wheel and look upwards....give it a spin by hand and see where it is catching. Better to do this cold..you wouldn't want the 'Thermo switch' to activate the fan and chop your fingers off now would we.
