Does anyone know of a website that tells you where you can buy super unleaded in France?
I've been looking on google but can't see anything. We are travelling down to the south next week and don't want to spend time driving round trying to find the right fuel. Just want to get to the heat!!
Thanks,
Pete

The 2012 Michelin atlas has a new section telling you where the various Shell, Esso etc stations are on motorways. They all seem to have all petrol options. However there are plenty of these stations on N roads too, so you should not have a problem finding one. Just don't wait until you are on fumes as sometimes you can come unstuck. Have a great trip. The weather over there has been fantastic this summer.

Thanks PRD. The plan is to avoid the motorways mainly because I can't see the point of paying to drive at 130kph when we'll only be going at 80-90 kph! I've got a non toll route off ViaMichelin which is a great route planning site for France. I reckon to get 300 miles to a tank but will aim to fill up every 200 - 250 miles as I don't like running it low - never know what's in the bottom of the tank. The journey from Roscoff to Uzes is about 680 miles which will mean filling up twice en route.
I've done a little more research since putting upthe first post and it seems like 98 RON is maybe more readily available in France than over here. Hopefully there wont be too much hunting around for it.

Re: Super unleaded in France
In the good old days when you could rattle along roads at a steady 55mph/90kph (must be about 10 years ago) I used to avoid motorways. Trouble is now there are so many restrictions on the other roads eg increasing number of roundabouts (why have they done that - roundabout madness) traffic lights, incredibly low speed restrictions every few miles through every town and village and hamlet(sometimes as slow as 20 mph) that your slow average speed on normal roads means it takes forever to get places. Fine if you are just touring and not in a hurry but awful if you want to get somewhere in good time.
Anyway whichever roads you decide to use enjoy your trip and I hope that it keeps sunny for you. Let us know where you have been. Enjoy.

Re: Super unleaded in France
98 RON "Super" unleaded is available just about anywhere that sells petrol. Don't think I've ever seen a petrol station that had 95 but not 98.
Depending on how you're going south, don't forget that in the area between the A75 and A7 motorways, PETROL stations are few and far between, at least on 24/7 card machines.
I hope you're serious about liking heat, it's 35 in the shade here in Correze, going to be even hotter down there. I'm just about ready to quit work and jump on the next plane to Antarctica...

As Steve said, it's everywhere - and the price difference is usually minimal, too. I've always tended to buy it, even for cars I'd lob 95 in in the UK, because in the past I've had problems with pinking and running-on on French 95 where there's none on UK 95.
It also removes the question, mark over E10 ethanol-rich fuel, too.

Thanks both. It seems like finding 98 RON is not the problem that it can be over here. I've also seen that ViaMichelin has a function for showing where petrol stations are so that's helpful.
As far as heat goes - I've always been able to cope with that. Where we are staying (just outside Uzes) is not far from the Gard so if it gets too hot I'll just go for a swim! After the rubbish summer we've had I'm desparate for some sun.
