Hi guys,

As previously posted recent purchase 1600 air cooled, I was informed the heating ain't much to rave about.

Question is on the many cold mornings we have, is there Any recommendations on the old screen defrosting/steaming up?

I have a trusty scrapper on hand!

Maybe a 12v heater?

The "old 12v heater" will be about as effective a sucking extra strong mints and breathing on the windows!
Complete and utter wasted of time energy ( a hell of a lot of your battery energy ) and money!
Don't waste your time or cash.
Get on eBay now nd find yourself a eberspacher or propex heater before the prices go daft for winter.....

Investigate the heating system:

Heat exchangers
Control cables
Big pipe under the van
Cabin controls and mixer box

It should be quite effective if everything is in good condition and correctly adjusted so the flaps open fully and such.

By the time the engine is warm enough to drive (couple of mins), it should be chucking out enough heat to clear the windscreen. Airflow is related to engine revs, so it clears more when driving than it does at tickover.

The T25 (CT/CU) system is far superior to that found on Beetles and Bays, as it uses a dedicated fan (on the alternator) as opposed to bleeding air from the main engine cooling fan.

My advice - try it as it is and make sure everything is working as intended before looking at other options.
