Let's be honest how has not done that. As I sad to paul am happy to use mine as a surport truck but am equally happy for some one else to use there's instead. as stated the dokas are in my view perfect as they seat 5/6 and with a canopie you have lots of storage for camping equipment and spaires, but in reality what other than drive shafts and cv joints are that likely to fail and be repaiable in a hurry? Preperation be for the set off is the key!

It may be a good idea for a camper to come along as a sort of base van for every one, ie cooking, food storage etc.I am very keen on this event but we would need to do some proper planning and reasurch on it, also work out the costing and funding of as paul said earlier.

PM on its way...

Totally agree and suggested this to Paul on the phone last night. For an adventure like this the more the merrier and anyway you know how Paul throws that poor pickup at stuff !!

I have a low mileage AAZ + 1Z flywheel + VR6 clutch assembly that I'll put aside as a spare for the event. Its a good one and I wont let Paul anywhere near it beforehand so it'll stay that way!!

( I will want it back afterwards though )

Ok guys after looking at the feedback and a few chats with people. Some thoughts/ideas on the subject
1)It might be an idea to go for the German leg first, due to availability of parts and support in Germany plus it would be cheaper to get there for the vehicles and anyone else in terms of supporters. If it went well there we could even look at storing the truck in Germany and entering the Balkan event in sept?
2) Look at two support vehicles One doka and maybe a camper or panelvan?

Major priorities are
A to look at costs
B to form a core group of approx 8-10 people to get the ball rolling and who are willing to put say £ 500 into a pot (this could be done via dd into a club/group account, so as too make it less painful) to cover the cost of entry and fuel etc and go from there I suppose? Of course this group can grow if more peeps are willing to "buy in" in terms of parts donations etc but I suppose for the start cash is king . Once costs are covered everything else is a bonus. What do people think?

I should be able to offer storage (off road) and a workshop - hopefully by then we'll be in the farmhouse just outside of Leipzig.
We'll have a barn for a workshop and there's half an acre at the back with room for a few vans.
There's also off-road parking for a couple of vans.

I already have a good supply of handtools and will hopefully getting welder and possibly a compressor.
Plus I have two good, local, used spares Syncro specialists.

If only we had a 16" panel van on the firm, now that would really be a cool looking support vehicle 8) 8)

It appears that every service person and vehicle incurs an additional cost, this probably means that you cant bring 10 of your mates into the service area unless they are paid up team members, I dont know how close groupies can get to the action!!!.
Bears further research!!
