Throttle body diaphragm - what is it??

Post by Jabes »

Hi there. I have a 2.1 DJ engine with Digifant. On my throttle body, on the inlet side, there is a valve, connected to a diaphragm/vacuum powered actuator. The actuator is not working and the valve has been wired in the open position.

Can anyone tell me what the valve is and where I can get a new actuator for it?

Thanks.

DJ is DijiJet
MV is Digifant
possibly the cruise control module, a picture would help a lot

Hi Aidan,

It has a Vege engine, so my bus is running a DJ engine with Digifant. Unusual I know. The picture shows the actuator I am trying to identify. I want to get a new one. Thanks for looking.

so it's the very very clean MV installation, never seen one like that in the flesh
part number is 049 133 517 about £32 from VW, probably go obsolete when you order it, check HEritage's classic parts lookup to see if they are still available from classic
I haven't a clue what it does, it's not covered in Bentley manual as I think it was only fitted to very late German Swiss or Austrian market vans but clearly not on the American ones or UK ones (1990 on)

I'd replace the rubber joiners on the vacuum lines too as they look a bit perished

Thanks guys. This is going to sound really thick, but I have been on Heritage VW's site and can't find the part. How did you get the details up?

Thanks.

Goto http://www.vwheritage.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Look at the list on the left hand side and at the bottom is VW classic parts

click this and enter the part number Aiden gave above in the search string

then order it

Can take about a fortnight to come from germany via heritage
