cleaning canvas

Post by rainman »

Sorry for dragging this up again, I know it's been done before but I can't find the thread. I remember reading here that diluted Milton fluid was recommended for cleaning the pop-top canvas and just wanted to check that this has been used with no adverse effects. I've accidentally got Dettol Mould & Mildew remover onto the canvas before and I can see that it has not been good for it so am reluctant to use anything containing bleach, but I guess very diluted Milton which was washed off again afterwards wouldn't do much harm. My canvas is quite grubby and has black spots which I'm guessing are mould (don't know what mildew looks like) and I don't think just plain water is going to do the trick - anyone successfully cleaned mould spots off their canvas?
thanks

Well that was a waste of time, I can confirm that milton doesn't shift mould.

Ok, I'm off tomorrow to sunny Devon for a couple off weeks but I'll check that out on my return.
