Hall sensor replaced and van won't start.

Post by mountainbiker »

Good morning folks.

My camper has had an intermittent fault all summer - it cuts out randomly, and also won't idle.

I replaced the coil and ignition amplifier but this has not helped.

So, after a bit of research on this forum I decided to replace the hall sensor in the distributor.

I found it to be a really fiddly job, and I wished that I took pictures of the arrangement of the various thrust washers, etc during the strip down as I am not confident that they are in the right place. Is there an exploded diagram of a 1.9 DG distributor available so I can confirm that the rebuild is correct.

The distributor is back together, and I'm getting a spark, but the van won't start.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated as I feel completely out of my depth and wish I hadn't started this job....

Kind Regards

Oliver

Problem solved - the rotor arm was fitted 180 degrees out of sync........

Van now running well. :ok

That's a lesson learned - read the haynes manual fully before starting a job and never start a job when tired.
