1.6 td jx engine won't shut off

Can anyone help?
Twice over the last month I've driven the van to destination turned it off and removed the key..... Van still running
Put the key back in turn to 2nd position drive van 100 yard, stoped turned off removed key.... Van stops
Is it the fuel cut off solonide on the pump or could it be something else?
Any ideas would be most gratefully received and some advice (if it the fuel cut off ) of how to fix it?

First port of call must be the ignition switch.

This will almost certainly be the stop solenoid... there will be a tiny bit of dirt (even a very tiny bit can cause this) stopping it fully shutting. Ive usually found just taking it out and putting it bak in usually stops it.

Try pulling the lead off the solenoid while it is running if it stops then it is ignition if it stays running it is the solenoid.

That was my first thought but as the ignition lights and the glow plug light goes on and off with the key, leaving the engine running I'm not so sure

It will do there's a mechanical plunger within the fuel cut off solenoid. Take it out clean or just replace it
