lpg ...tick, petrol...no play ball.

Post by ermie571 »

Ok folks, ran out of LPG today. Had 1/4 tank petrol in fresh yesterday, as LPG pump was faulty so I knew I was going to run out.

Last time we ran on petrol it ran ok other than at lights, jucntions etc where it would stall, even when warm.

Today, ran out of lpg. Switched to petrol, went away ok. stalled as per usual at every stop, but restarted on the button.

Then, not far from the petrol station, it conked out....no acceleration....just rolled to a halt and 2 red lights. Cranking well, but no spark.

so....seeing as its running perfectly on lpg....I'm thinking fuel delivery. So, have just ordered 2 new push rods for fuel pump (one for daughter's van) and I have a spare fuel pump. Will whip mine off later and see what its problem in life is.

Is there anything else? Would the solenoid just die on petrol??? switches to gas...but could it be faulty on petrol? Too much of a coincidence that it wouldn't idle....then wouldn't run at all?? Oh - fuel filter ok, was changed at last problematic petrol episode.

thanks for reading

previous problematic petrol episode ?

if there's water in the petrol then as well as rust particles you get this jelly like crap blocking up the carb float chamber

if you pop a teaspoon of fuel in the top of the carb will it run ? then die, if so then it's fuel supply issue

Thanks Aiden

will investigate further.

Previous problematic petrol....rough running...solved by new leads, dizzy, filter etc

returned to smooth petrol running

Thanks for the response
